Oregon’s wine valleys are diverse environments formed by the dramatic geological events of the past. Ancient riverbeds form the cobble strewn beds for Rhone and Bordeaux varieties in the State’s South and Northeast valley’s providing the foundation for distinct and characterful wines. The famed Willamette Valley’s nested-AVAs rise above the glacial flood plains, home to some of the highest quality Pinot noir and Chardonnay vineyards in North America. Wines being produced along the Columbia River offer a range of styles.
