GEOLOGY & SOILS
Open a bottle of Oregon wine and taste a 200-million-year-old story. Oregon’s grapes are born of the Ring of Fire, of erupting volcanoes and shifting tectonic plates, of cascading lava rivers and glaciers grinding against ancient rock, of walls of water as high as the Statue of Liberty. Quite a story for some humble grapes that fought for existence in infertile soils, searching deep for water and minerals. But in Oregon, we’ve always thought that struggle builds character, and our grapes have that in spades.
